The National Cadet Corps is the largest uniformed youth organization in the world. NCC is an organisation that young college/school students can join. Its motto is “Unity and Discipline”. The aim of the NCC is to inculcate the values of unity, team spirit, and discipline, turning them into dynamic youths for tomorrow and giving them a first-hand idea of defence life. Above all, it gives cadets an opportunity to be part of a military force. It provides an excellent opportunity for the students to improve their spirit of exploration by providing basic military training in arms and parades.
The NCC unit in AN College Patna was established in the 8th decade of the last century. Prof. Subhash Chandra Singh was the founder ANO of the unit. After his retirement as ANO, the unit was abandoned. In 1998 NCC unit was revived under the ANO-ship of Prof. Shailesh Kumar Singh. Later on, the NCC unit is running fluently and prosperously.
Why you should join NCC?
Cadets having ‘C’ certificate be exempted from appearing the written exam for entry into defence. Directly eligible for SSB (Service Selection Board).
There is some reservation for NCC C- Certificate holder in UPSC-CDS and are given preference.
Various state govt. also provides reservation of few seats or preference to NCC 'C' certificate holders in jobs and educational institutions.
Military training enable cadets also to learn several other valuable things such as selflessness, honesty, discipline, hard work and ways to build confidence and gain leadership qualities.
Under the regime of exchange programme, there are a few selected cadets who get an opportunity to visit other countries and learn various things which are practised in other nations.
54 cadets of Army Battalion enrol each year after selection procedure. Currently around 160 cadets are enrolled in the unit. Approximately one-third of the total strength are girls.
